MCSD Provides Leadership and Direction for Public Access and Salmonid Habitat Restoration on the Lower Mad River [1]

McKinleyville, CA –  May 4, 2016 at 7:00pm, during a regularly scheduled McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) Board of Directors (Board) Meeting at Azalea Hall 1620 Pickett Rd, McKinleyville, CA, the Salmonid Restoration Project will present the Board an informational update.

A presentation will be given to the Board regarding the development of conceptual designs for public access and restoration of salmonid habitat on MCSD’s property along the lower Mad River. Following a presentation to the MCSD Board, the project design team will reconvene in the Azalea Hall Senior Room for discussion; to receive comments and answer questions from the public.

MCSD is partnering with the non-profit CalTrout, and local consultants to develop designs that will decommission the existing wastewater percolation ponds within the active floodplain to restore natural habitat for the benefit of salmon and other aquatic species. In addition to the proposed habitat restoration designs, proposed designs for improved public access at the site will be presented.
