The McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) has one vacant governing board seat, to be filled by appointment. The MCSD Board of Directors (Board) is currently accepting letters of interest from qualified applicants, residing in McKinleyville, which will be used in selecting the ideal candidate. Letters of interest should be directed to Emily Abfalter, Board Secretary, at the MCSD office, 1656 Sutter Rd. McKinleyville, CA 95519 no later than 5:00 pm, January 30, 2019, and include the following information:
- McKinleyville residency history
- Work history or business background
- Education history
- Community service history
- Personal concept of what special districts are and specifically what MCSD does
- New perspectives the applicant would bring to the Board
The appointment selection will be made during the February 6, 2019 Board meeting and interested applicants are highly encouraged to attend. The selected applicant will be sworn in at the March 6, 2019 Board meeting. Interested applicants should expect a minimum time commitment of monthly Board meetings, held the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm at Azalea Hall, 1620 Pickett Rd. McKinleyville, CA 95519. MCSD Directors receive a meeting stipend of $125 per meeting attended.
MCSD is governed by a five-member Board, who serve four year terms. The appointed candidate will initially serve a two year term, expiring December 4, 2020. A general election in November of 2020 will allow McKinleyville residents to then elect a candidate to serve the remaining two years.
