MCSD is pleased to announce that MCSD Board member Dennis Mayo, has been appointed President of ACWA (Association of CA Water Agencies) Region 1.
The ACWA is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country. Its 430 public agency members collectively are responsible for 90% of the water delivered to cities, farms and businesses in California. ACWA member agencies and representatives play a vital role in planning, building and maintaining the infrastructure needed for their communities, and Mayo is no exception.
He served as Vice President of the association for the last 6 years. We are very happy for him to move into this new position. A familiar face in the Capitol, Mayo is a tireless advocate for MCSD, HBMWD and Region 1 legislative issues, attending conferences in Sacramento, Monterey and Washington DC. He has been especially effective dealing with illegal water diversions caused by pot grows, continuing the state’s commitment for sustainable energy consumption (solar etc) and the legislative work on CA drought and water usage.
Mayo says he is proud to represent the North Coast Region, and "I’m very happy to have this opportunity to pay back to this community which has given me so much."
