Senator Mike McGuire visited Humboldt County on Monday, December 21, 2015. During this visit he stopped by McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) where he was introduced to the Board of Directors and staff.
General Manager Orsini provided a presentation that covered infrastructure, facilities and potential projects. Following the presentation, the Senator discussed funding opportunities with the Board regarding some of the major projects and requested that his office be sent follow up information on the projects, staff time and projected costs. Senator McGuire had special interest in the potential for the Community Forest and requested a tour of the property when he returns in the spring. There is also a possibility that he will be back in Humboldt when the Teen Center officially opens this spring.
On behalf of the MCSD staff and the Board of Directors, we would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to Senator McGuire and his staff for taking the time out of their busy schedules to pay a visit and meet with us here in McKinleyville.
Senator McGuire serves California’s 2nd District which covers the North Coast California from the Oregon border to just north of San Francisco and east into Trinity County. This was the first opportunity for most of the staff and the Director’s to meet with the Senator since he was elected to office in 2014.
MCSD serves the community of McKinleyville which is located on the coast between Little and Mad Rivers. MCSD has authority to and provides water, wastewater, parks, recreation, street light and open space services to approximately 16,900 community members.
